How to Audition for Love Is Blind

Requirements to be on Love is Blind:

  • You are officially single; you may not be in a committed or intimate dating relationship, be living with someone who you have a dating connection with, or be in the process of getting a divorce or annulment
  • You are 21+ and are a resident of Canada, USA, Ireland or the UK
  • You live within a 50 mile radius of where the show is filming

How to audition:

  • Submit a one minute video of yourself saying your name and where you are from
  • Complete the 300 question compatibility test
  • Attend a zoom interview with the casting director
  • Allow producers to conduct a background check and psych evaluation upon you

Donna Driscoll, the casting director for Love is Blind, says they search for a specific type of person. You must have everything going right for you (job, social life, etc.) except for love. They look for someone who is missing a partner in life rather than wanting their 15 minutes of fame.

Some things to keep in mind before auditioning:

  • You are not permitted wifi, phones, or any other devices during filming
  • Men and women live in separate houses whilst filming
  • You will be asked to leave the show if you don’t connect with anyone
  • Once engaged, you go on a tropical vacation with your fiancee, move into an apartment together and meet each others families.
  • All marriages are legally binding

America’s Favorite Couple

A notification that changed everything, early 2024, Taylor Hastings received a life changing DM from the casting director for Netflix’s hit reality TV show,  Love Is Blind. The casting director had Taylor in their sights for Season 8 after being referred by her friend, offering her a chance to find love in front of millions. Taylor had many thoughts about the DM. Her father had recently been diagnosed with cancer, so dating had been put on the backburner in her life. It also crossed her mind that the casting director could be a scam, and would steal her identity. She was very conflicted on her next steps, so she contacted her close friend to get her advice. Coincidentally, that was the friend who referred her to the casting director. Her friend couldn’t partake in the show because she was in a committed relationship, so she referred Taylor. After much discussion, Taylor decided she would audition for Love Is Blind as she “had nothing to lose”! Little did she know, this would be the start of her fairytale beginning.

Frigid Minneapolis where Taylor found her other half

To audition for Love Is Blind, you must go through several rounds of auditions, each harder and more personal than the last. After grueling weeks of filling out questionnaires, interviews and physiological evaluations, Taylor got the call that she was cast on the Minneapolis season of Love Is Blind

The first day on the show, contestants are set up on dates with a variety of people. What’s the catch you ask? Contestants are not able to see each other during the dating phase and must rely solely on conversation to gauge their attraction. Taylor sat down with Daniel on the very first day of filming, and she immediately felt a connection. In an interview Taylor recalled how she “clung to every word he said. The way he worded his answers, how much we had in common and how effortless it flowed.” Safe to say she was hooked on Daniel.

Typical day of a Love Is Blind addict.

Fast forward to the end of the season, the venue was draped in creamy white linens, it’s Taylor and Daniel’s wedding. Pops of green adorned the aisle as forty of Taylor’s closest friends and family trickled in. Most of her guests had “no idea she was even on the show let alone getting married” until they received the invite in the mail. In a previous episode, Taylor went wedding dress shopping and picked out a gorgeous white, strapless ballgown to wear on her wedding day. She walked down the aisle with tears in her eyes and a bright smile on her face, just seconds away from promising forever to Daniel.

Think  being in love on TV is all champagne and sunsets? Think again. Behind the filtered lenses and staged dates, falling in love on reality TV involves a lot of messy meltdowns rather than Hollywood romance. Many couples struggle with the new found fame, creating riffs in their love story. Luckily, Taylor and Daniel had a whole year to settle into married life before Love Is Blind aired. Once the show came out, Taylor struggled with being in the limelight, constantly checking her phone to see false articles being published about her and her family. Beyond the blinding paparazzi flashes, Taylor and Daniel were basically strangers, having only 3 weeks under their belt before saying “I do”. The couple barely knew each other’s middle names, let alone how the other would react when the honeymoon phase hit reality.

Unlike many of their castmates, none of which are still together, Taylor and Daniel’s love story is continuing to blossom. They still live in Minnesota, where the season was filmed and they just adopted a golden retriever puppy. Taylor is very active on social media, landing brand deals and other major

collaborations, all while juggling her passion for cancer prevention. Her dad, who pushed her to audition for Love Is Blind, survived colon cancer, and she now works as a colonoscopy nurse- quite the full circle moment! It’s safe to say a miracle in the pods has occurred. Against all odds, and the brutal curse that is reality TV, Taylor and Daniel have pulled off the impossible: a happy ending in a world full of scripted heartbreak.
