I am Sam McMillan, a student in the Vantage Digital Journalism course. I am a senior at Minnetonka High School. As for the DJ course, my goal is to improve my abilities in video production and writing. More importantly writing, as I feel it’s something that interests me and feel that it’s something important for my future plans. I feel that VANTAGE is valuable and unique to other courses that are offered anywhere else, due to the experience that it gives you in a professional setting. In VANTAGE, I feel I am learning not just skills as it relates to Digital Journalism, but other important skills such as communication, teamwork, public speaking, responsibility among many others. The mentor relationship is also valuable to me as it helps build a connection that doesn’t only help you throughout the school year, but can also be a connection that maintains past high school. In my future plans past high school, I plan on majoring in business at Iowa State University. I feel that my experience in DJ, will help me gain a knowledge in different skills that I can apply to business. I have a passion for playing sports, more specifically Basketball, Track and Cross Country. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family
