I am Parker Tabor and I am a student in the VANTAGE Digital Journalism (DJ) course. The reason why I was interested in the DJ course was that I was excited to learn how to connect and communicate better with people. Effective communication is a really important skill to have in the real world and the Digital Journalism course allows me to improve those skills. Another thing that intrigued me about this course was how I can work with real-world mentors and companies to further enhance my skills as a journalist. I am a senior at Minnetonka High School and some things I enjoy doing in my free time are playing baseball, hanging out with friends, and spending time on the lake in the summer.
Some skills I value the most are my work ethic, determination, listening thoughtfully, and authenticity. When covering a story, it is important to me to cover multiple perspectives and credible source information to give my audience confidence that the work is credibly covering the whole issue. Why I think journalism is important is because people need to know what is going on in the world and journalism is a great way to keep people in the know.
